What Engagement Heat Actually Shows

Heatmaps reveal concentration of attention and interaction—not proof that a region is valuable or that cold zones are failures.

Engagement heatmapping aggregates where people look, move, or click on a surface. Bright regions mean more activity there—not automatically that the content is persuasive or that cold regions should be removed.

Treat heat as a spatial question: given this layout and this audience window, where did attention gather? Pair it with outcomes—completion, conversion, support tickets—before you rearrange a screen.

Teams that write a one-sentence definition of what “hot” means for each study spend less time arguing about color and more time deciding what to test.
